Remy Poncho

Hands down, the Remy Poncho was the most popular knitting pattern from Olio Knits.  This pattern continues to be a favorite.  I think that the simplicity of this pattern is what appeals to knitters.  It’s easy to knit and easy to wear.  You don’t have to worry too much about fit and the knitting tutorial on picking up stitches is pretty helpful.

Sweater

Another popular pattern this year was the Rebecca Pullover Sweater.  Again, I think simplicity rules here.  There’s nothing difficult to knit in this pattern, in fact, it’s easier than the poncho. No shaping or picking up stitches.  A great first sweater to knit if you haven’t tackled a sweater yet.

Hat and Fingerless Gloves

Third place is a tie going to The Fagin Hat and Fagin Fingerless Gloves.  You can’t beat a quick project that uses very little yarn.  In fact, depending on your knitting, two skeins might cover both pieces, three tops.  The hem on the two pieces really highlights both pieces and it’s especially nice on the hat.

Winged Tip Shawl

What other popular knitting patterns were there? Of course a shawl had to make the cut!  Two nice shawl patterns were published this year. The Winged Tip Shawl was the winner by a nose. I love the ruffle border as I think that it’s the perfect frame for the shawl.

Baby Puff Ball Hat

Not really fair as it was a free pattern but, I will include it because it’s cute.  And, the Baby Puff Ball hat is still free!  A super easy baby hat to knit that uses about 150-180 yards of sportweight yarn.  Of course it was popular!
